Some people think that just because they are eating their fruits and veggies they are getting the full effect of a diet. A healthy diet does not only include receiving the proper amounts of vegetables, fruits, protein, grains and carbs but also includes exercise. Dieting should not just be about weight loss but should instead be about living a healthier life by controlling blood sugar, blood pressure, and balancing cholesterol levels.

Below are 10 helpful tips and tricks to healthy dieting:

  1. Indulge in Greek Yogurt

Not all yogurt is healthy. Did you know that yogurt itself is loaded with tons of sugar that is unhealthy for you to eat daily?  You might want to switch out your usual sweet yogurt for a Greek yogurt which has much more protein, less lactose and less carbs as it is much healthier for you.

  1. Say no to highly processed foods

Get rid of all packaged foods which are factory processed! You may want to get rid of it from your house and even work place as they might seem healthy because they are “all natural” but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are. They undergo a long process in order to not rot and so forth.

  1. Eat more protein for breakfast!

Breakfast that is protein rich will give your body a slow burning energy which can keep you feeling full and focused all day long.

  1. Eat more whole grains

Did you know that some breads and pastas are healthier than others? Buying whole wheat or even whole grain can have major benefits. These benefits include and are not limited to reduced risks of cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and unbalanced cholesterol levels.

  1. Half of your dinner plate should be vegetables!

Your dinner meal should include plenty veggies with carbs and proteins. When you first sit down to eat dinner, you should really try to eat your veggies first. Once you eat them first, you can move on to the carbs and the protein. This is beneficial because by the time you are starting to feel full, your veggies which are jam packed with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients are already in your system.

  1. Say no to juice and or soda

If you are making juice from scratch with a few simple ingredients, that is okay! If you are buying juice from the stores, stop it! Both sodas and juices are loaded with unnecessary sugars and calories that will have you feeling lazy and tired. Drink liquids like water, sparking water, and homemade teas and juices.

  1. Oven it!

Oven cooking is one of the easiest and healthiest ways to prepare a meal. Your oven can be used to make many meals like baking, steaming, stewing, broiling and more. Fried foods are always a no-no when it comes to eating healthy but every once in a while you can indulge.

  1. Create a grocery list

Creating a grocery list before heading over to the super market is ideal! You might be asking yourself why. Creating a shopping list is ideal because you are less likely to add unneeded items into your cart. Before you shop you should also be sure to have a full belly because if not, you are going to be buying snacks you don’t truly need.

  1. Eat at home more often!

Not every restaurant is going to have full details on how a meal is prepared along with all the ingredients it took to make it. You may go out to a restaurant on special occasions but it is best to eat at home. When you prepare your own meals you know exactly what you are putting into it.

  1. Meal preparation

Panning out your meals for the week is a great way to ensure healthy eating. This way you are getting all the nutrients and calories you need to be energized throughout the day. By planning out your meals, you are less likely to order fast foods and eat unhealthy snacks.
